I wonder about the trees.
Swaying in the breeze,
Exerting presence but cut down with tears.
Their sap flows freely, memories remain,
Centuries they live, years of boundless rings.
Their useful gifts the endless wood they give,
Supporting our world we walk and live on,
The wooden floors behind the wooden doors,
With chairs and benches at tables we sit.
But climate is changing
Rain, flood and fire,
Trees burn so fast
Smoke enveloping all.
I now need to move,
Before the trees …. fall.
