Pan tiled roofs coloured with lichen grow on
buildings which gape wide open in the heat.
Marbled quarried blocks are bleached in the sun,
twisted olive trees are tended in lines
and survive on sun burnt and rocky land.
Silent outbuildings fade in the sunlight,
placid houses are likewise composed and
settle serenely into retirement.
Spoils of a well worn lifetime surround them,
they wait for rain and enjoy the warmth.
